Thanksgiving Memories '08

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner at Ma and Pa's house this year. We all had our "five kernels of corn, five kernels of corn..." we all sang and wrote what we were thankful for this year and listened to the lovely joy school children sing "Thank you Pilgrims".
Thanks mom and dad!

Ryan's Boycott

i am boycotting carolyn and don kleinman for being such crappy grandparents/humans. The stupid ornament and ten dollars they can keep. lets all boycott them this season to cast out those who seek to de-unify us. I say let them eat fudge, and feel the emptiness of the seeds they have sewn... ok that sounds pretty harsh, but i have just been thinking about them, and i do not have one memory of them ever being uplifting, helpful (without alt. motives), faithful, inspiring, generous (without wanting something in return), understanding, exemplary, REAL, gentle, complimentary, loving, or even KIND. We will not be attending the breakfast . They are a cancer to our family. agree? or disagree?

Memoirs of a Suburban

I remember the day we adopted her, she never had a name, just a distinct burgundy color with white swirling decals we'd know anywhere. She drove inumerable miles down freeways, to swim meets, soccer games and over rough terrain to horse lessons, up the canyon or out to the hot pots. Her brakes were always soft...just like her heart. She was filled with hay, moldy swim bags, stinky scouts, sour milk, costco runs...the list goes on. She was at the center of our lives but was never in the spotlight. She bore the scars of children ("AMY KLEINMAN") and teenagers alike. When she'd break down she would settle for a duct tape fix, even when she deserved more. She never stopped giving...until one day, her heart just stopped. She went down in a blaze of glory and I think she deserved her moment in the sun.

Secret Toast

Do you remember one of our favorite things to do for FHE...or any time really was to pick names and do a secret service for that person. And usually the best thing we could come up with was making their bed and leaving 2 pieces of freshly buttered toast right on top!

ZERO DAYS!

After recieving a daily count-down at 6:00 am from Addi who just pulled off another link in her paper chain for "Days until Grandma comes" I don't know who was more excited when she ran into my room and could finally say MOM! zero more days until Grandma Comes!!!!
Unfortuately for her she had to wait the whole day and into the night (Mom's flight didn't come in until 10:00pm) we put her to bed at her usual time and then woke her up to drive to the airport and pick up Grandma. It was fast because her bags were lost (they did arrive at 5:00am the next day).

Arrival Photos

Thursday
I didn't have Theo that day and we went to the Children's Museum. I only had a few quarters so we could only stay for an hour but we packed in a lot of fun!

The Bubble Room will do that to you

Friday
Next it was off to the Science museum where mother designed a sweet paper/paperclip/straw glider. And Addi participated in a MIT child development study, she did really well but the coolest part is of course the certificate.

The late afternoon movie with popcorn and orange slices became a ritual enjoyed by all. The only problem (from Addi's perspective) was that Grandma kept closing her eyes!! Poor mom she can't catch a break.

Saturday
We spent the foggy and drizzly morning at Piers Park. It has a great play area and one of the best views of the city...that is if it isn't foggy.

I know it's hard to tell but this is an airplane and Addi is taking off to Boston.

A favorite past-time with these two

Playing at the park is harder than it looks.
I love these last couple of pictures of Mom and Addi just enjoying eachother.
I'm so glad Mom could come thank you especially to Chelsea for making it possible.

CONTRIBUTERS

Hey everyone!

I set up this blog so that everyone can contribute their pictures, videos, thoughts, etc. To further unite the sweet Kleinman clan. But I know everyone doesn't have access, so if you'll leave your e-mail address in the comments I'll add you to the "contributers" list.
